About the Program

SnowSchool is a winter ecology field trip program that takes kids out on snowshoes to discover the wonders of the winter environment. The program at Bogus Basin needs volunteers to help lead field trips to support the paid SnowSchool Coordinator with on-snow tours and activities.

Volunteer Information

We are seeking volunteers to lead snowshoe field trips up at Bogus Basin for 3rd -6th grade classes throughout the months of January, February and March. It is a very rewarding experience to be out on the snow exploring with these groups and sharing your passion for winter and the environment with the next generation.

Location: Bogus Basin Nordic Center (Frontier Point Lodge is about 45 min from town)

Field Trip Schedule: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Fridays during January, February and March from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Required Commitment: Suggested minimum of leading or “shadowing” 2 field trips

Required Training: Minimum of 2 in-person trainings. 1 Orientation and 1 On-Snow. There are 4 available this fall and shadow experience during the season will count for an on-snow training.

Optional Training: 2-day "Leave No Trace" training course held at Bogus Basin.

  • SnowSchool is an environment-based education program for elementary school students that gets them outside, on snowshoes and learning about the the wonders of thewinter environment. If you have a passion for the outdoors andare interested in working with kids, then we need your help connecting children tothe great Idaho landscape. Other Requirements:

  • Complete and submit the SnowSchool volunteer application
  • Sign the Bogus Basin “Procurement of Background Check Form”
  • Complete the Bogus Basin Volunteer Acknowledgment Form
