Volunteer Information

We are seeking volunteers to lead snowshoe field trips up at Bogus Basin for 3rd -6th grade classes throughout the months of January, February and March. It is a very rewarding experience to be out on the snow exploring with these groups and sharing your passion for winter and the environment with the next generation.

Location: Bogus Basin Nordic Center (Frontier Point Lodge is about 45 min from town)

Field Trip Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays during January, February and March from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Required Commitment: Suggested minimum of leading or “shadowing” 3 field trips

Required Training: Minimum of 2 in-person trainings. 1 Orientation and 1 On-Snow.

Optional Training: Winter Ecology, Snow Science, and Igloo Construction trainings will occur through the winter

*Foothills Learning Center pre-trip lesson presentation: Wednesday, December 20th, 2017, 10-11am, Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center (3188 Sunset Peak Rd.)

*Boise WaterShed pre-trip lesson presentation: Thursday, December 21st, 2017, 10-11/11:30am (optional 20 minute tour of exhibits to follow), Boise WaterShed (11818 W. Joplin Rd.)

* Snow Science with FS Hydrologist Brian Anderson and Biology with Biologist and Naturalist Ray Vizgirdas : Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018, 8:45am-3pm, Bogus Basin Frontier Point Nordic Lodge

*SnowSchool Activities training day: Saturday, January 6th, 2018, 8:45am- 3pm, Bogus Basin Frontier Point Nordic Lodge

*Help Build an Igloo day: Monday, January 8th, 2018, 8:45am- 3pm, Bogus Basin Frontier Point Nordic Lodge
