Summer Outdoor Education Internship for University Students

What is Bogus Basin Mountain Discovery Camp?

The Bogus Basin Mountain Discovery Camp program aims to get kids outside, active and learning about the wonders of nature in the Boise National Forest.  Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is seeking exceptionally passionate students to help engage hundreds of local youth in this critically important environmental education program.  The internship program is focused on helping the university student develop outdoor leadership, teaching skills and knowledge of local natural history.  With your help local kids will spend their days following mysterious animal tracks, exploring mountain ecology, learning important survival skills, hiking to the top of More's Mountain, making new friends, and drawing sketches of native plants and animals.  The internship program is designed to be flexible with students’ work schedules and accommodate Environmental Studies Department 100 hour service requirement. Come join us!

Feedback from previous interns:

“As an internship this opportunity provides people with some seriously valuable skills. People learn how to think fast, adapt, work as a team, CREATE a team, make decisions, mediate conflict and communicate. All of which are skills that make anyone more employable. Way better than making copies and fetching coffee. The skills you learn… go WAY beyond identifying animal tracks. These skill are applicable anywhere professional or otherwise”

“I learned a lot about myself and my leadership style.”

“It was awesome to work with the youth in this area in such a profound way. Outdoor/nature experiences are so important.”
